High Quality 41.5" Scottish Claymore With hardwood scabbard The Claymore was the sword of Scotland. The sword came into widespread use during the 13th century in Scotland and was used up until the 17th century in Clan wars, and border disputes with England. On the battlefield the Claymore was a fearsome opponent. It was slightly shorter than the average two handed sword of the time allowing it to be wielded faster, but with the same crushing blows as its counterparts. The guard would have two cross arms that had a downward slope and ended in quatrefoils. The design acted as a sword breaker of sorts. When the Claymore parried or blocked an opponents sword the arms of the guard would trap the other sword and the Claymore could then disarm the opponent. This is a well made reproduction of a mid 15th century Scottish Claymore.

Features
  • Blade: The blade of the sword is 420 Stainless Steel. The edge of the blade is unsharpened and the point dulled.
  • Scabbard: The scabbard of the sword is hardwood with a black synthetic leather cover. The scabbard end cap is aged steel with a celtic pattern and a trefoil drag. The scabbard throat is also celtic patterned steel with a groove in each side to fit the guards languets
  • Guard: The guard of the sword is solid steel with the traditional Scottish design of downward sloping arms ending in quatrefoils. A languet is fitted on each side of the guard to secure the sword in the scabbard. The Languets are heavily patterned with celtic circles. In the middle of the guard is a lion sejant guardant on either side.
  • Handle: The handle of the sword is steel with synthetic black wood finish. 3 steel medallions decorate the handle. The pommel is steel disc design.
