Step-by-Step Instructions for Attaching MAF Sensor Bung to Tube
Step 1: Establish Position
- Place masking tape on the tube, covering the area where the MAF Sensor Bung will be positioned.
- Overlap the tape to protect the surrounding area.
Step 2: Mark Perimeter and Opening
- Mark the perimeter and the rectangular opening of the MAF Sensor Bung onto the tape using a pen.
Step 3: Drill Holes and Rough Cut
- Remove the MAF Sensor Bung from the tube.
- Drill holes about 7/16" in diameter at either end of the rectangular opening.
- Roughly cut the length of the rectangular opening using a Dremel or small diameter cut-off wheel.
Step 4: File and Sand
- File the opening to its final size with a file (slightly larger than the opening).
- Sand the edge smooth with 320 grit sandpaper.
- Cut the masking tape just inside the perimeter line with an X-acto knife.
Step 5: Prepare for Adhesive
- Sand the area inside the perimeter and the underside of the boss with 60 grit sandpaper to provide adhesive grip.
Step 6: Apply Adhesive
- Use an industrial adhesive like Panel Bond.
- Apply the adhesive to the underside of the boss.
- Press the MAF Sensor Bung into place, paying attention to the arrow indicating airflow direction.
- Wipe off any excess glue that squeezes out.
Step 7: Secure Boss in Place
- Hold the MAF Sensor Bung in place with tape until the adhesive significantly sets.
Note: Do not use nuts or other hardware on the inside of the tube to avoid the risk of them coming loose and getting drawn into the engine.
