The intersection of military functionality and civilian fashion is well established, with garments like cargo pants and trench coats seamlessly integrating into everyday wardrobes. This enduring crossover highlights how practicality and necessity in military design often result in timeless style. Engineered Garments continues this tradition by reinterpreting classic military attire for a modern audience.
This season's Over Pant is inspired by the M-65 Arctic Snow Camouflage Trousers. Originally developed for U.S. troops operating in extreme cold, these shell pants were designed to be worn over multiple insulating layers. Their lightweight, voluminous construction allowed for ease of movement and adaptability in harsh conditions.
Daiki's reinterpretation preserves the functional essence of the original while introducing considered updates. The silhouette maintains the recognizable cargo shape through articulated knee pleats. Pass-through pockets — once intended to access inner layers — are replaced with fully functional external pockets suited to contemporary use. The removal of suspender loops streamlines the design, while reinforcement stitching above the seat, borrowed from British Army field pants, enhances durability and adds a subtle yet distinctive visual detail.
