Roaming around the Peranakan enclaves, one can still find the manifestations of the culture and opulence at its charming best. This design features the iconic Koon Seng road shophouses with their intricately ornate facades and colourful Peranakan tiles that often bore motifs of fruits, flowers and birds that were considered auspicious in Chinese culture such as the peacock- Phoenix’s earthly representation.
