Kiffa beads are a type of glass bead made from sintered glass powder. These recycled glass beads are a kind of traditional "tonbo-dama" (glass bead). They were discovered by ethnologist R. Mauny in 1949 around the city of Kiffa in Mauritania, hence the name "Kiffa." The most famous style features an isosceles triangle with vertical stripe patterns.
