The louvred roof does not need to be opened in order for water to drain because there is an integrated drainage system. Rainwater that falls on the louvres is directed into channels with a U shape. Water then flows from the roof into the pergola's framework's channels. Rainwater enters the horizontal framework, flows through the hollow pergola legs, and descends vertically to the ground. The water can then flow in the direction of your choice thanks to carefully arranged holes in the shoe that fit over the cover plate as well as the legs. You won't ever witness the water dripping off the pergola thanks to this method. If you were to open the louvres when wet, the U-shaped channels prevent rainwater from dripping under the sheltered area.
