DETAILS: This vintage shirt is a classic, very Bohemian chic a la Palm Springs - very nicely made and probably quite expensive in its day. I am guessing it is 1970s. It is designed to fit like a man's tailored shirt, including a shirttail hem. The neck is finished with a simple banded stand-up collar. The decorative rows of tiny cross stitching accent the lines of the design, and in most cases, lie atop seaming. The ombre floral appliques are beautifully done, shading from deep indigo to sky blue.

FABRIC/COLORS: I believe the fabric is cotton, it is medium weight and opaque. The embellishments are a combination of embroidery and applique, using several shades of blue with orange and yellow accents.

TAGS: Beau James, Palm Desert, Calif. Another tag underneath, says King James, California. Beau James Center was one of the first upscale designer shops in Coachella Valley.

CLOSURES: The shirt closes with eight flat pearly plastic buttons up the front, ending at the neck. Each sleeve cuff closes with a matching button.

CONDITION: One careful inspection, I can see very subtle discoloration at the underarms - I couldn't get it to show in a photo. I also see two small tannish spots on the right lower front - see closeup
